ROBERT STEIJN, RICARDO RUBIO, ROBIN MEIER: BODIES, VOICES, MACHINES
19.00: Bodies in poetry. Robert Steijn introduces the block.
19.15: Robin Meier will speak about his experiences of working with machines to create feelings. At the interface of science and art he is constantly wondering how science replaces spirituality and how art can survive the scientific method. Not a scientist, not an artist, not a musician he tries to understand these fields as an outsider. During his talk he will try to illustrate his explorations through works he created and projects he is working on right now.
20.00: A vegetarian buffet is served
21.00: Improvisation with Ricardo Rubio, Robert Steijn and Robin Meier. The dancers Ricardo Rubio and Robert Steijn have invited composer and visual artist Robin Meier to work with their voices and texts. In an improvisation they will test different strategies how internal contemplations and confessions can become an audible universe in which one can dance, move or die (metaphorically). Together they will explore the relationships between speech, rhythm, movement and song. By slowing down their words many many times short sounds which last only milliseconds can last up to minutes. This opens up new sound-worlds as if digging deeper and deeper with a microscope revealing hidden harmonies.
